Baby Eye Infections

Eye Infection
Is it infection or not is the first thing we need to ascertain.
Secondly if its viral or bacterial. There is not much you could do with viral infection.
Good news is that eye infections are generally self limiting and need no treatment. You can clear any gunk as softly as possible.
Please do not use salt water etc for babies. Fresh tap water is best to clean eyes.

Understanding
For bacterial infections, there are medicines available to purchase from 6 months upwards.
You should also keep an eye on temperature, read here for Fever and how to control it.
It is possible that your baby has other accompanying infection in chest or ear along with the eye.
If that’s the case and depending on its severity and type your GP might prescribe oral anti-biotics.

Take Action
Take a photo of your baby’s affected issue or we can do a direct video call to your baby, whichever is easier for the littlen.
We will give expert independent consultation, with diagnosis.
Our Pharmacists always asks the list of medicines/remedies you have in home so you do not spend money buying same/similar unknowingly which is of no help to you.
Where a referral is needed to GP or other services, we will provide a referral note so you will not have to repeat everything again.
