Do not leave it too late as constipation can cause compaction of stool and becomes really painful for children.
While you can buy laxatives for certain age, they do not work straight away.
Increase liquid in-take, add more fruits and exercise (all age dependent)
For small babies gentle belly and leg massage can be helpful
